Which "great" Roman died at Pompei Refusing to abandon..(no it's not Silvio Berlusconi)...his familia? That would be...Pliny The Elder.

Pliny the Elder, Gaius Plinius Cecilius Secundus.

   Roman Statesman, scholar, cavalry commander,

born 23ce-He wrote over 75 books,

the most notable the Historia Naturalis,

  He died at Pompei, 79ad,
returning to the doomed city, when he could have fled.

Remarkable man none the less.

As much as I disliked the overbearing Imperialism of the Roman Empire..
(loved their outfits)
A Great Mind is a great mind, many thanks, Pliny the Elder,
I owe you....one.
